Meet the Team
David Scott Wolfe

Scott began in the construction industry at the age of 14, and even while working as a paramedic and fire fighter, he continued learning all aspects of construction. In 1996, Scott moved to South Carolina and was soon approached by Centex Homes. In response, he began a company dedicated to  achieving customer satisfaction for Centex Homes and was eventually brought on as their Customer Service Manager.

After three years with Centex, Scott became a team leader with a scattered lot builder, and later, working with D.R. Horton, he began a custom program building high-end homes in the Upstate and Columbia. After four years with D.R. Horton, Scott was able to realize his dream of owning his own company and combining valued business principles with a personal touch.

“It seemed the perfect opportunity that God had given us to begin our own program,” Scott said. “I almost felt that the past 10 years was a ‘residency’ program from the medical profession.”

After 80 homes and three years as President of Compass, Scott still has his focus on customer care.

“My vision is to be a builder that can meet any type of need, from remodeling to million dollar homes, including boutique-type commercial,” he said. “I feel that creating an arena where customers are happy and will tell their friends, we are providing the best opportunity for long-term success.”

Don Luedtke

CFO, Vice President
As a licensed CPA, the son of an entrepreneur and someone with a strong financial background, Don brings many years of experience to his role as CFO and Vice President of Compass.
Don started out in 1981 working for Conley, McDonald, Sprague & Company, a certified public accounting firm in Wisconsin. He passionately guided clients from many industries through various financial tasks, such as audits, reviews and preparing financial statements and tax returns.
In 1990, Don joined Service Experts/Arrow Heating & Air Conditioning. In two short years, he became the general manager and then purchased the company. Together with his partner, they grew the company’s sales from less than $1 million to $4.5 million. With financial forethought, they joined a pool with 12 other Wall Street companies and formed Service Experts, which immediately became publicly traded on the NASDAQ. During the next few years, they purchased many other HVAC companies across the country, and Don worked as an in-house consultant helping struggling centers get on their feet.
“I have a passion for building highly customer-focused businesses with strong systems for long-term sustainability,” Don said.
As a self-employed investing consultant, Don has guided numerous individuals and companies through difficult financial, manpower, cash flow and profitability challenges. While consulting on personal investing in real estate and the stock and futures markets, Don relocated to the Upstate and eventually joined the customer-oriented team at Compass, where he is able to help customers realize their dreams.

Green Building Consultant
Dave was influenced in his career path by his father, an engineer and carpenter/cabinet maker. He had his official start in the industry as a carpenter’s helper with Daniel Construction, now known as Flor Construction, in 1970, but it wasn’t until pursuing his bachelor of science in construction and management at Clemson University during the mid-’70s that he uncovered his interest in energy-efficient, “green” building.
Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dave designed and built dozens of passive solar, energy-efficient homes across the Upstate as a small custom residential builder. He attained his S.C. residential license in 1977, his S.C. residential inspectors license in 1995 and his S.C. commercial license qualifier in 2007.
Green building has changed a lot over the years, and Dave has kept up with the developments and latest technology. With an on-staff Certified Green Professional, Compass is now able to build certified Energy Star homes that meet the guidelines put forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. In 2007, Dave completed the LEED for Homes Technical Review, a voluntary program that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes and is presented by the U.S. Green Building Council.
“Being part of a company such as Compass has been a true joy for me, as it allows me to put my expertise and passion for practical, quality, energy-efficient, true green construction to use,” Dave said.

Micah Krenzke

Project Manager

Originally from Michigan and then living in Florida for a number of years, Micah joined Compass Construction of the Carolinas in November 2007 but has been building for as long as he can remember.

Working with a company that holds itself to the highest level of integrity was an important qualification when arriving in Greenville. Micah said he found what he was looking for with Compass and is proud to be working with this group of people.

Because Compass is primarily an on-demand builder, Micah believes the company structure allows him to better relate to each homeowner, to know where in the building process each home is so he can provide up-to-date information and to have more control over the quality of each home.

Although Micah is usually out in the field, he depends on the office team to help get things done and is always grateful for the spirit of cooperation. In fact, customers repeatedly tell him it’s that relaxed, cooperative atmosphere that helped them choose Compass Homes.

A dedicated builder making each customer's concerns his own, Micah works hard behind the scenes to ensure that each customer’s expectations are met or exceeded—often delivering homes earlier than anticipated.

“I want to do it correctly and not just do it,” Micah said. “That’s important to me.”
